Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women
The Spiritual Adoption Program is a nine-month program that began on Friday, January 29, 2021 with the March for Life and will end in October 2021, Respect Life Month. To register please contact Harriet at [email protected].
At the conclusion of the program a baby shower will be held in November (date to be announced) at the Diocesan Center in Harrisburg for those who have been participating. At that time, we would invite the participants to donate baby items which will be donated to pregnancy centers in the Diocese. Details of items needed will be shared here in early fall.
The program has three elements:
- To pledge a daily prayer for nine months for a baby who is in danger of abortion
- To educate others about the development of the unborn child
- To value life
Individuals who plan to participate should register by completing the registration below, and print the adoption card. The card contains a place for you to name the baby and add the birthdate.
Each month for nine months via email, you will receive a report from the Legislation/Respect Life Commission of the HDCCW on the development of the adopted baby in the womb.
We ask you to recite this prayer daily for nine months to save a baby’s life:
“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much.
I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby
that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”
(Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.)
